Futuristic Comic Strip featuring war dog by LeahG

Post by LeahG on Fri 29 Apr - 3:42

These are the preliminary drawings for a cartoon comic strip story I hope to illustrate about a dream I had recently. All these scenes are from my dream. More to follow.

Wow! Your technique has been totally transformed since you first came on the scene, Leah: you obviously love doing this stuff, it shows in the results. The giant robots are actually quite scary! I like how the background robots are slightly out-of-focus...is this a seperate layer, or manipulation on the same level?

Was all this a Pixia job, or another program?

Thank you

I'm trying out various styles at the moment, but I do like the 'darkside' of cartoons. Smile

I used a vector program to draw these robot toons digitally with a mouse and I shaded in Pixia. I haven't used layers. The out of focus effect was just created using gradient shading and grey border as oppose to black.

Entering 'INland' the futuristic world.

Ta, I'm going to try to stick to the dark shades for this dream sequence.

Meanwhile, that's enough for me today! I'll draw more tomorrow. I need to show wardog at his transforming, warring best! That'll be a tricky one!!

I couldn't resist, here is wardog after he's transformed into deadly armoured lorry to defeat the robot army!

War dog is my real dog Fred btw! He's a black labrador. He somehow appeared in my dream as this robotic war hero doggy!! Smile

This is another cartoon in my fantasy comic sequence. Here this terrifying creature is looming out of the darkness over a city that is accessible by the mouth of a cave. A city that is full of futuristic horrors.

The main characters enter unknowingly this terrifying world

Out the other side of the cave....

At some point when I've dawn enough pics I'll start to add the dialogue and the story line.

Because these images are based on a dream I had, the exact storyline has yet to be crafted.

Here's a brief synopsis so far...

There is much more to WARDOG and INLAND but will take a long while to put it all together. But wizards, zombies and every other good or nasty magical and fantastical creature resides at:
INLAND - a world where imagination and the future collide!

For my comic strip WARDOG I've decided to try and create a different vibe for my cartoon characters, sort of more realism / fantasy art. This is my 'damsel in distress' pic. She's being approached by an army of war robots.

The female has a slight manga-ish-ness to her facial features.

your technique is coming on in leaps and bounds, Leah...very confident stuff.

I also get loads of ideas from dreams/the subconcious at night. I try and write them down, but sadly a lot are just lost in the mists of my memory.
