Headless chicken going around in circles - animated pic

We've been talking about creating animations in another thread, thought I'd start a new one here just for discussions re animations.

I just created this very basic dancing chicken animation (going around in circles) to show how easy it is to create animations with some very basic software. WebDesign Studio 2nd edition (£6!)



I drew a series of 4 pics, flipped one and re-used another to create 6 pics in total.

I simply uploaded the pics and then selected 'export'.

I only did the first eight steps with the Gickr avatar page.....(not the Picasion)

..then just as an exercise, I changed the colour of it ten times (instead of doing ten drawings) and uploaded them from the Gickr avatar page where it says "browse". You can add as many images as you want up to ten. I chose 120" wide because the maximum size width for this forum is 150" (pixels). I chose fast speed just because of the nature of my animation, but you may want to choose normal or even slow for yours. Then at the bottom right, press continue. You will be presented with your animation and a "BB code (for forums)" or "Image Link". Now I copied the "Image link" code and then in the edit profile/ avatar section of the forum, I pasted it into "Link to an off-site Avatar", but I suppose it can be done the other way round, ie: copy the "BB code (for forums)" and paste it into the "Upload an Avatar from an URL". It's actually very easy and it works. (£0!) Note that this is just for your avatar, not to be confused with an animation program. I'm still on that case.

I will have to try this, Simon....LEAH, your animation is wonderfully chaotic........for the subject matter, its' full of 'life', if that's the right word.....this service is well worth six quid and I will seriously look into both of your reccomendations. Do you download this programme online or buy it from the stores, Leah?

I bought mine in Staples the office suppliers, but you probably can buy it from eBay or other places online.

OK guys; I've pencilled in 7 simple frames of one of my characters, so I've to ink them in and upload them to the service above: give me a day or two, though, as I just want to take my time with this.....I am keen to do it, though....watch this space!

If you really want to get serious about animation in the long run, then try either of these applications....

Do it now before they change their minds. It may look like you may need a degree to operate these applications however. Bryce is supposed to be simpler than Blender. They are are both free.
Tutorials can be found simply by googling designated interests.

Well that's what they are, and they took both less than 10 minutes to dl on a very crappy mobile modem connection. They are the Industry standard. This is the kind of thing I aspire to, call it crass or what.....
