Lee Nordling here, there, wherever there are comics to discuss
Hi, all.
I was kindly invited to check out this site, and joined up yesterday.
There are too few places where comic strip folk (and other comics-related folk) can hang out, so it's nice to see such an extensive site devoted to so many topics. Hopefully, as time passes, we'll expand on some of those topics.
I've been involved on both sides of the desk in comic strips and comic books, both as a writer, cartoonist, executive, and editor.
Around 15 years ago, I wrote a book called "Your Career In the Comics," and I'm happy (and continually surprised) that it's still in print, if terribly outdated.
I worked in Creative Services/Publications at the Walt Disney Company in the late '80s to mid-'90s, writing comic strips, comic book stories, children's books, and did a lot of fun development stuff nobody will ever see, but I got paid and had fun.
I ran Creative Services at DC Comics in the mid-'90s for a short time, took over the role of comic strip editor for the Rugrats strip (at Nickelodeon Magazine) in the late '90s, and it ran for five years and two subsequent collected editions.
I ran a comic book department for a film production company that shall not be named, and started my own comics-packaging company a little over four years ago. (You can check out our site at the-pack.biz.)
These days, I'm writing sequential art picture books for young readers, and working on a publishing company start-up.
Still keeping busy with the stuff that's fun to work on.
Anyway, nice to meet you all.
