Anybody interested in cartooning games?

Post by Kathy on Tue 4 Jan - 8:43

...or jam? or anything like that?

A couple months ago I did something like that with a guy at work. He drew a cylinder, gave it to me. I drew a ball, gave it to him. He added arms, I added a face...back and forth until eventually we ended up with a cartoon of a piece of macaroni burying a guy, whose head was sticking up out of the grave - complete with tombstone and shovel. It was really fun!

Anyway, my point being, I'm hoping someone might be interested in doing something fun like that. We could add things to a cartoon, or each person do a panel (I've never tried doing panel strips before). Any interest?

I think it's great idea but could prove arduous what with scanning pics in with small additions each time. What I shall do is see if there is an online drawing application we can perhaps collectively use to do this instead, unless anyone else has any ideas how this is best done?

Or if we have illustrator/inkscape, we can share those files....Or each post a panel, if we wanted to make a strip...

Sounds like fun! Me and my Sister used to do something similar with my Mum when we were kids. One of us would draw a head then fold the paper to hide it, then someone would draw a torso and fold it then the next person drew legs. This used to produce some pretty bizzare images.

Great! Want to trade illustrator files? We can give a few days for each person to open the file, make their addition and send it back. We can agree that it's "done" after a certain number of turns. Keep it line art for simplicity. Sound good?

It doesn't matter what app you use Leah. We can open them and convert them to whatever. We need to recruit a few more of us into this and do it like so..... (Comic jam strip) 1st person does a panel, sends it to 2nd person who does panel two (carrying on the theme from the first) and sends just their one to 3rd person and so on and so on.

We can do it just us three, if we want. Each person can have two or three turns so we'd end up with six or nine panels. It's our game, we get to make the rules Very Happy

How about if I send you one panel tonight, Simon. We can each take 3 turns and then we'll call it "done". Leah, would you like to participate? Anybody else?

Let's stick with black/white. Any particular theme?

Yes okay keep it simple. No, no theme, that's the nature of the jam. So I'll send mine to you then you send yours to Leah and she sends hers to me........

Simon, are you starting or am I? I don't recall anything about a regular comic strip but maybe that was when I first found the forum... Can we send files using this board?

Not really no, there we got to see the whole thing as it evolved. This is actually the proper way to do it as per that other forum.
