speedball pen nib and a lil' jar of ink.

It's a pain in the arse to get to work sometimes, but it's probably the best thing I've used so far.

I use Faber-Castell Pitt Manga pens

What does everyone else use?

1.) I use an HB mechanical pencil to lightly sketch the drawing, then
2.) use a Speedball crowquill #102 for line art and main lettering
3.) Speedballs B-6 and B-5 for special effect lettering "POW!!"
4.) ruling pen for inking borders
5.) and a #6 Windsor & newton watercolor brush to fill in black areas

This is for serious work like comic book pages and paying illustrations. The next step after it dries is to erase pencil, scan 'em in and color them in Photoshop. Non-serious work (like the Popeye versus Hulk story on my website) I just use any kind of juicy marker at hand, usually a Crayola.

Simon Lake wrote:I've tried them all. You can't tell me jack fluffy kitten about pens. You may be surprised at what I eventually settled on. WH Smith OHP (That means Overhead Projector pen I think). It doesn't matter anymore if they are permanent or non- permanent. They only cost a quid as well. I've even been known for nicking just the black one out the packet when there aren't any separate one's and walking out lol. I normally try to get 3 black one's at a time though.

Simon is bat-sh*t crazy. At first I only suspected, but now I know for sure. lol [puts chair in between me and Simon]

Speaking of which, thanks for the MisterArt.com banner link, Leah. I just saved a bundle on all that stuff! I'll be able to build my whole Second Sight Graphix library with the package that's coming my way!

I mostly use a brush and Indian Ink.

For the cartoon about robots and evolution I also used a fineliner for the background (To get thinner lines) and hatching on the rocks, and a felt-tip for the very dark shadows.

The front page of 'the black and white knigt' (page 8 of the corresponding topic) is inkted completely with Indian Ink.

Guess I must be mistaken... I thought you didn't like stealing? Well, let's see if I can sell Duncan Donutter to our local newspaper. Very Happy

Gawd what's that moderator of mine promoting now!!

We here at the cartoonists and illustrators forum do not endorse any kind of illegal activity lest we be deleted..do we SIMON!!! What a Face

Meanwhile, re pens, I am presently using Sharpies. The Ultra Fine ones mostly.

I do though have some fancy cartoon inky pens bought for me as pressies, but I get in too much of a mess with those.

Meanwhile @ Rasheed, Mister Art is indeed reasonably priced. I may also see if I can perhaps approach them for a member discount?? It's on my to-do-list.
