Hi Guys
I just designed an entry for this competition (you can see it here). I am not sure whether to sumbit it though after reading their terms.
"(b) By submitting an entry for the contest, participants agree that Freelancer.com acquires exclusive ownership of all intellectual property in every entry, whether the entry is chosen as the winner or not. Participants cannot claim any intellectual property rights in their entry, including (but not limited to) trademarks, designs, copyright, or patent, or claim a breach of moral rights at any time. All media (images, videos etc) submitted as entries for the contest will remain the property of Freelancer.com, and Freelancer.com will have no obligation to pay licence or royalty fees. Freelancer.com may use the entries in any kind of media, advertising or communication. Freelancer.com makes no representation as to how long the winning entry may be used."
What do you think re this?

That's very good Kelvin but do their rules allow you to post it here? My interprettation was that any submission is theirs to own to sell to republish. Hence I didn't enter. I did email them to clarify this point but they didn't reply...not yet in any case!

Hi Simon, nice designs but need to have words
freelancer.com
Meanwhile, I still have not had a reply from them re my query asking whether I'd be able to publish my own entry on my own sites as their rules seem to prohibit it.
I have thus decided this not the most ethical of comeptitions. My own opinion of course.

"We will announce the winners on Monday the 19th of April, 2010. The winners be chosen based on a variety of factors including creativity, humour and virality of the designs." What exactly do they mean by "virality"?

It means how likely it is people will share the image via Digg and stumble etc. This is the reason I created a cartoon. I can't see anyone getting sufficently excited about a regular design that they'd want to share it. It never happens.
Things that are shared are funny jokes, images, naughty rude images/jokes and weird things etc.

Do you think I can enter more than once?

you can Simon but bear in mind they can use your image even if you don't win without giving you any credit as per their rules.
I like this idea better btw.
