I think I may have found the pen/marker that I'd like to use for these. This is an "Artwin" double-sided brush pen from Japan. It's very smooth. Seems to last forever. I think this is the pen I used to do that entire Zeppo webcomic a few years ago... in fact, the exact same one.
I think it's a keeper. I like the way it feels and looks.
