Most work seems a bit dark and depressed to me. Don't you like candy and butterflies?
I get the feeling you are still looking for what style you like the most to work with. I like the style of the last drawing (painting?) you posted here. Do you also draw cartoons or comics?

Re: as promised here are some of my earlier works cartoon/comics related
the last one the guy stretching out into space/heaven/sky is called demented dimension. It was a artistic rendition of how i sometimes feel sitting on the toilet and things just arent going the way I feel they should. :-) and it was actually the first piece of art I did when I first started learning the upper body. It was all done on GIMP and when the art was done i flattened the image and applied a canvas filter to give it a painting look.
The top one the mohawk is a character I am currently developing for a comic book I am creating. that was sketched on paper (and until i get a place for my scanner) I took a digicam pic of it and inked it in GIMP. I been having issues drawing females for some reason.
The ones in between are from over the last 14 months since i started learning to draw and teaching myself how to use graphics prgrams like gimp
and thanks

I like candy just fine and butterflies are all right. Even though as a kid i remember grabbing one and popping it into my mouth and discovering the hard way they are not made of butter... ICK...
The style I seem to be gravitating toward is the Will Eisner style. Early Comic Book artistry. It is the one I like to look at the most. While the modern era comics are cool I seem to enjoy drawing in the older style.
And yes I started to learn to draw a little over a year ago mainly to create a comic book. I have been writing short stories on and off since I was 15 (43 now) and I have always had a problem doing anything longer than that. It gets jumbled and goes off on tangents and gets all wonky and off the main course. Until last year I was explaining to my friend how I envision the stories and he said, "dude it's like you are seeing a comic book". He was right of course it is like that in my head,. The weird thing is I never was into reading them. Mostly because of a very 1950s throw back parent thing. My parents were very not into anything creative lol. So I had to settle for reading sci-fi and horror novels because I could get away with saying it was for a book report lol.

A lot of cartoonists have trouble drawing women, me too initially but I think I have the hang of it now.
It's weird isn't it...not sure why that is but it is fairly common.

this is one i did today. all total it took about 1 hour and 45 mins from sketch on paper to final rendering on gimp. i did the character by memory no reference image, i was always more partial to the 70s tv show hulk so it looks closer to that body wise and the back ground i added in as an after thought
