Bryant Arnold - Featured Cartoonist Interview - BIO

Bryant Arnold - Cartoon-A-DAY

BIO
Rather than pasting in an old bio paragraph, I'll give you something off the top of my head.

I grew up in the harsh Midwest of America in an even harsher family environment. Nothing was ever given to me that I didn't earn the hard way. Introverted, I escaped into books-reading my first full set of encyclopedia before I could ride a bike. My only happy childhood memories revolved around the rewarding smiles of recipients of my "artwork". Everything I know about art, drawing, painting et al I learned either from a book or trial and error ( mostly error).

Profits from my lawn-mowing, leaf raking, snow-shoveling and other season-related business endeavors directly fed my need for paper, pencils, and art materials. When I ran out of paper, or wasn't near a pencil, I used to close my eyes and draw what my mind saw mid-air, with my finger. As a result people stopped talking to me, including my 'family'.

I reconciled my banishment and created a voice through art, writing, and what I could photograph. A couple excellent mentors along the way brought me out of my make-believe world and into a version of reality I could live with.

Since my fabulously unmemorable days in the Midwest, I traveled to Las Vegas in pursuit of a place where even an Artist could make a living.

A few highly successful stints inside the corporate world of Casino/Resort Marketing and Advertising, I discovered i could be my own bos with the same rewards, in a tenth of the hours.

>>FF 20 years...still my own boss. Still self-taught. Still drawing 8 or more hours a day, and most of it is free to the world. Cartoonaday.com makes No profit at all. The ads barely pay hosting fees. The cartoons are still FREE_USE, and I knowingly draw them for anyone and everyone to download and reuse. Maybe one day that will change, but my crystal ball is temporarily out of order.

Until then, I spread what gift and resources I can spare to the world . . . like it or not.

GOALS
Illustrate a published Children's book. Finish writing 8th novel. Hike Kilimanjaro. Swim with Dolphins. Draw one cartoon everyone in the world will laugh with.

PUBLICATIONS
Too many to list. Cartoonaday.com has over 10,000 back links (sites publishing C.A.D Cartoons). Printed publications range from newsletters,to magazine, to books and more. Produced over 500 corporate logos, a hundred websites. You get the picture.
