I hate cafepress-any sale made through their marketplace only earns you a 10% commission. Did you have to pay to set up a shop?
Re: TOP TEN CONTRIBUTER AWARDS for NOV 2011
You can set your own rate of comission Kathy and no there are no fees up front. They take 10% comission from your profits perhaps that's where you got the 10% from?

WOW! It is a honour to be in the Top Ten. Leah! I believe Simon mentioned something about a cheque!!!!!

Yeah sorry about that mate, it appears she's actually Polish and when we had her tested she turned out to be a Man. But you will get it within 3 working Days. I'm sure you two will get along fine.

No, it's their regular terms of service now. Any sale made through the marketplace (not referred from your own website) only earns 10% commission. It's been awhile since they made that change, and I left them because of it - along with several thousands of other shopkeepers/designers. Last I heard, they were also setting prices in the marketplace, but I don't keep up with their tricks..er..I mean, business practices anymore.
Re: TOP TEN CONTRIBUTER AWARDS for NOV 2011
Is the marketplace different to having your own shop front?
Re: TOP TEN CONTRIBUTER AWARDS for NOV 2011
The marketplace is like a shopping mall-people can see lots of products from different stores, all at the same time. Your shop is like one store in the mall, where only your products can be found.
If someone finds your product by doing a search on the main cafe press home page, it's considered a marketpace sale. 10% commission.
If, however, they click a link from your website (or this forum) and get to your product directly, it's not a MP sale because the customer was directed to cafe press by your sales efforts.
BUT... If your customer goes to the marketplace after placing your product in their shopping cart, and puts anything else in their shopping cart, even though they originated from your website, everything they buy on that transaction reverts back to a marketplace sale and the commission is 10%.
That's how it was when I left.
