100th out of 100,000 entrants! Simon Lake

Post by Leah-Admin on Sun 14 Mar - 7:40

I hope our very own Simon Lake won't mind me opening this new thread by letting you know of his success in an International logo design competition.

In South Africa they held a nationwide competition to design a new logo for the SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) and Simon's made the final 100 out of 100 000 entries that went on display around the country.

Well done Simon!

Please post competition details here and any cartoonist forum member success stories.

I can't find the original, so I did a quick sketch of what it basically looked like. The object of the competition was to do a design that would symbolize a united South Africa and depict diversity and equality. Mine was in the final 100 out of 100 000 entries on a display that toured the country, with a chance to win it for R 25 000. That's about £ 2 500. I didn't win, but it was great to have my design up there. This is the present logo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I'm not entirely sure if that is actually the one that won the competition.

I like it and yes it's a play on the yin and yang, I think it's a great idea.

Congratulations! But imagine, what the entry in 99,999th place looked like! Something tells me it would be beaten out by a semicolon... lol.
