Re: Egghead gags
yes, nice work, Grant! Older members will probably 'get' this next gag: but for younger folks, an explanation may be needed: in the 60s, there was a little black lion stamped on eggs to show quality:

Fantastic! Love the black and white line work. I thought it was a red lion [but that was a pub] Also, nice I am one of the younger viewers...but not by much!

Here is everything you ever wanted to know about eggs!!

"The “Lion” stamp on British eggs shows you that the egg has been produced according to a set of industry standards, such as hens being vaccinated against salmonella. As well as the red lion, there is also a ‘best-before’ date on them (21 days after laying). There is also a number which identifies the way that the hens are kept – 0 for organic, 1 for free range, 2 for barn eggs and 3 for cage eggs. This number is followed by a country code (e.g. UK) and a set of numbers which identifies the farm from which the egg originated."
Re: Egghead gags
Thanks for the info, Leah: my memories probably come from the days of black-and-white telly, hence the mistake! I do remember seeing the actual eggs with the stamp when I was very young, though: they must have been red after all.
Good observation, Grant!

Re: Egghead gags
Do you remember that film 'The boy with Green hair?'
that was black and white and they somehow painted his hair in to look green

Or, for completists, David Coleman: " It's Tottenham versus [pick other team] and spurs are in the yellow strips!"

Re: Egghead gags
I remember black and white telly.......we had it until I was 13! Early colour TVs were so expensive, most people rented them, even a lot of those with money....the colour wasn't all that good either, but a technological marvel at the time.
I saw the 'BOY with Green Hair' on a b/w telly in the 70s, Leah!
Late 60s b/w football matches on TV were painful to watch, Grant: a little white dot for the ball! [Possibly for TV coverage, the balls were changed to white, but that's just my theory] : still very popular, however.......

Yes I think they could have been red or black. They're not that old fashioned. I'll bet you could still see them around. For the integrity of the gag I'd keep it black Rob.

Re: Egghead gags
Cheers, Si! Remember when Tony Hancock advertised eggs on TV in the 60s?
Sorry if I made you feel old, old son! We were both very young at the time........

Re: Egghead gags
I fail to see why they should feel the need to advertise eggs really.
