Newbie To This Forum

Post by smalltowntom on Thu 27 Oct - 22:49

I am brand new to the forum. Shocked
If I should post this somewhere else, then please let me know. Neutral

I am posting my comics on Go Daddy using Web Site Tonight as the web site creator/publishing tool. (noper, I don't want to change my hosting site)

Is it worth it to redo the whole thing using Word Press? Crying or Very sad

Or is there another tool that is better/easier? Question
I really don't want to put my comics in with a collection of other comic strips.

I don't know much about web coding. pale

Thanks,
Mike Barnhouse, writer/creator

Hi Mike! Welcome! I know wordpress has a theme
especially for comics called Comicpress. Eventually I plan on using it, and I see lots of professional cartoonists do too. You might want to check it out!

There is great diversity to your choice of subject-matter, Mike! Full marks for tackling so many different angles and scenarios.......

Hi Mike

I was missing right side of your page for some reason, might be my browser, I use Firefox?

Meanwhile I think wordpress would be a better option than what you have now. Re the comic version of wordpress, I had a dabble with that, couldn't quite get my head around it but if you have the patience to view the tutorials it is probably simple enough. Smile

Good work, keep it up and welcome to the forum!

Leah

Like Leah I cannot see right side of pages and I am using IE8.

I use weebly for w/site hosting and I am fairly pleased with it.

Wow.
I am really concerned that folks cannot see the right side of the pages. scratch

I use FireFox 7.0.1.
I also use IE 8.0.6.

If convenient, can someone please send me a screenshot? Smile

I couldn't see it on my iPhone but I could on my desktop...I'll tryto get a screenshot.

I think comicpress is pretty straightforward. The thing is to get Wordpress on your server. That can be the tricky part. I use Bluehost for my webhost, and they made it so simple that I don't even remember how I did it! after ts installed, you just choose the comicpress theme.

Hi Mike.

I use blogger, but if the price on godaddy is cheap, just work out the bugs.

All in all looks good to me, and welcome.Very Happy

So very sorry, Kathy.

I cleaned out my inbox, and upped it's storage capacity.

If it is not too much trouble, can you please retry to send the screen shot?

Thanks,
Mike

Hooray, I found out what screen was truncating the comics.
Whew...I am so glad this forum pointed it out!

I probably will not get to implement iPhone support until later.

Thanks everyone...what a friendly forum!
