Although you have already expressed your interest to this degree in the correct thread Re:*
and since Leah is away, I would only suggest that you try to keep your posts relevant to the various sections Phsyco if you don't mind. Another thing.....I'd be careful who I offer free services to. That's not what we are about and don't sell yourself short because you won't get nothing for nothing.*http://www.cartoonist-forum.com/freelance-cartoonists-services-cartoonists-for-hire-f9/

I you insist in going down the 'free' path, virtual, just take on jobs [themes and subjects] you are genuinely interested in.
I admire your enthusiasm for cartooning.

Yes I ditto that. I'm not trying to put you down Sean. Quite the opposite. It's just that with that enthusiasm you should maybe be thinking of taking a more Professional approach. You've made an important step forward by starting a blog (albiet with pics on lined paper), now at least you have a platform to show your wares. Maybe you can get some exposure by going the route you are suggesting but in my experience this is not all it's cut out to be. I just think you could be looking at the bigger picture. I'm only trying to help you.
Re: Cartoonist and Illustrator Starting Out - Need Jobs!!! - No charge as I need to build up experience
Thanks for advice and all is appreciated.
I dont understand how this is irrelevant to the offering services thread. I am offerring a service?
Honestly i dont trust myself yet enough in terms of my ability to create professional quality work hence the offerrings of free projects completion in order to refine it. Maybe I am missing something. Maybe someone would like to enlighten me?
I am not being smart or rude, just brutally blunt.
Cheers.

Not the wrong one no, but also not the only one. It's really about putting yourself out there. Social networking.

Right so I will have to look around. I have a full time sales job at minute so strapped for time. Getting a syndicated cartoonist job is what i want to get though. Thats really cool....

that's what I'm aiming for, Virtual......are you OK at drawing smaller frames [some cartoonists hate it, others thrive on it].

Yeah I am ok at drawing smaller frames, I will draw anything that is needed. Would it open a few more doors for me if I worked with both?

Re: Cartoonist and Illustrator Starting Out - Need Jobs!!! - No charge as I need to build up experience
Every now and then Virtual, someone comes along with an offer of 'exposure' in exchange for art work.
They might be good people to approach. Have you looked in the work offers section?
You'll probbably find though that those who have a budget will look around more specifically for a style of art work that appeals to them personally. Sometimes clients might want cartoons in the 'style of....' Giles for example. They'll either look for someone with that style of ask if it can be done.
For example, I was asked recently if I could do a comic strip in the style of 'Viz'.
The more variations of style you can do the wider your audience I expect, though developing your own style is perhaps more rewarding in the long run.
